The Austadiums platform continued to accelerate in 2025, with major growth across the website, database and social channels, while remaining Australia’s leading destination for stadium information, event listings and crowd attendance insights.
Here’s the annual look at the year that was.
A key milestone was the continued expansion of the stadium database, growing to 625 venues, with richer venue profiles and ongoing improvements to the interactive stadium map to make discovery faster and more intuitive. New public-facing sections were also added and refined across the year, including the sports TV streaming guide, stadium experiences, and expanded sports news coverage.
Behind the scenes, performance and data accuracy remained a constant focus, ensuring Austadiums remained fast and reliable as usage continued to trend upward. Significant work was undertaken to prepare the platform for the future.
Social media also delivered a standout year, with Instagram followers increasing by 90% year-on-year, supported by stronger engagement and broader discovery, particularly around major stadium projects, attendance figures and high-profile events.
Looking ahead, there is a major pipeline of platform upgrades planned as Austadiums continues its evolution from a stadium and events database into a more personalised product. Work is underway to officially launch user account functionality, including the tracking of stadium visits and events, shareable stats and insights.
Planning is also progressing for a broader website refresh with a highlight on personalisation across the site, as well as the next steps towards an Austadiums App experience across iOS and Android.

On the content and crowds side, 2025 was another huge year. Austadiums tracked 1,809 sports events at 213 stadiums across 16 sports, attracting a combined attendance of 22,939,089 spectators.
Accor Stadium topped the list of most viewed stadiums on Austadiums in 2025, ahead of the MCG and Marvel Stadium, while Rod Laver Arena and RAC Arena also featured strongly, highlighting continued interest in major arenas as well as stadiums.
The MCG again led the nation for total attendance, welcoming 3,624,811 spectators across 62 sports events. Optus Stadium and Adelaide Oval were close behind, each attracting around 1.7 million fans, while Melbourne Park recorded the highest average crowd of any venue in the top ten thanks to the Australian Open.
Victoria comfortably led all states for total attendance, drawing almost 9 million spectators across 442 events, while Melbourne again topped the city list with more than 8.5 million attendees. On the field, Australian football remained the dominant sport by attendance, while rugby league and cricket again delivered major crowds, with the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix days once more topping the highest attended events list.

In news and content, stadium redevelopment stories continued to drive the strongest engagement across Austadiums in 2025, with Mars Stadium, the MCG’s Shane Warne Stand proposal, NSW stadium land planning, Rugby World Cup 2027 host city announcements and Brisbane 2032 Olympic stadium discussions among the most read stories of the year.
The annual Stadium Awards were also run in December, with Optus Stadium maintaining its stranglehold on the main prize, while Adelaide Oval won two categories (best oval stadium and most picturesque stadium).
That’s a wrap on 2025, another major year of growth for Austadiums and an exciting base to build from. With a site refresh and exciting new features on the horizon, plus continued progression towards an app, there’s plenty to look forward to in 2026 and beyond.
