VAFA launches new website

The Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) continues to lead the way on and off the field, with the launch of its new website.

The brand-new VAFA.com.au has been built from the ground up, and represents a significant step forward in providing a superior online experience for supporters of Australia’s largest community football competition.

While the previous website had served the Association well over 16 years, it has now been retired to make way for a modern, intuitive, and more user-friendly platform. The comprehensive overhaul promises a more streamlined and efficient digital experience for users.

The website is built on the WordPress CMS, with a vast amount of data imported from the former site including news articles, images and pages.

The project has been a collaboration between VAFA’s website partner Powahaus and CV Media, with Powahaus developing the website and CV Media managing the project, developing design mocks, feature requests, ongoing feedback and CSS updates to perfect the experience.

The new site offers a range of new and improved features with a design optimised for mobile devices, while making it easier to find what you’re looking for.

Enhanced Club pages are branded in club colours and include club info, social links, news, video and maps, while the section pages also have a new look and include direct links to fixtures and results, news and video.

News and video is presented better on the new site, which is fitting given the amount of quality content being produced in 2024 internally and from VAFA’s volunteer reporters, while all 7,000 articles have been imported across from the old site.

VAFATV has a new look, now also with the ability to filter match replay videos by section, round and club, allowing supporters to easily watch matches on-demand.

Improved access to the SEN Match of the Day every Saturday – tune in to VAFA’s live coverage with one click by visiting the VAFA website every Saturday afternoon.

The Homepage now features the best of VAFA content including latest and featured news, video and match replays, Premier Data stats from William Buck Premier Men’s, social media, latest podcasts and featured promotions, while the new site features enhanced commercial integration for VAFA’s valued partners.

The next stage of the project, will see the direct integration of PlayHQ data, meaning VAFA fixtures, results, ladders and live scores will be directly available via the VAFA website.

VAFA’s Head of Media and Digital – Cameron Voss, said “the new VAFA website is a testament to our commitment to providing the best possible digital experience for the VAFA community. We’ve listened to feedback and in collaboration with our website partner Powahaus, built a platform that we believe truly meets their needs. This website not only enhances the way we share information but also strengthens the connection within the VAFA community.”

The launch of the new VAFA.com.au marks a new era for the Victorian Amateur Football Association, with the new platform designed to keep the VAFA community engaged and connected like never before.
